The Story of Heart of Valor

As a disabled Navy veteran, our founder experienced first-hand the stress, anxiety, and trauma that can happen to individuals in the military or those who work as first responders. Out of this experience grew a desire to show our heroes that they are not alone.

Through networking events and outdoor excursions, Heart of Valor helps veterans, military members, and first responders connect with others and experience the healing power of nature. Every individual who comes to our events or attends one of our fishing trips has a different backstory — but a desire to serve others connects us all.

We believe no military, first responder, or veteran should ever suffer alone. We organize outdoor events from our current headquarters in Texas to provide opportunities for fun, rest, and healing to those who have served as heroes.

Our Vision

Our vision is to provide meaningful moments of peace, connection, and camaraderie for military members, veterans, and first responders. When we first started our non-profit in San Diego, CA, we welcomed heroes aboard our boats for deep-sea fishing adventures — giving them a much-needed break from the burdens they carry in service to our country, cities, and towns.

Heart of Valor is now based in Texas, but we continue to honor those who have served. Currently, we’re continuing our mission in a new setting by creating opportunities for rest, renewal, and community that honor the sacrifice of our heroes and strengthen their spirits.

Our fishing trips are an important part of what we do and hold a special place in our hearts because of how healing these trips can be. The sea has always felt like home, and being able to share that experience with deserving soldiers, veterans, and first responders is what fuels our mission at Heart of Valor.

We don’t claim to be healers, but we do believe in the power of connection, nature, and time spent with those who understand the sacrifices made by every person who has answered the call of duty.
